We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Researcher to join our ARC Cryopreservation Laboratory team. The Senior Researcher will perform murine embryo and sperm techniques in support of ARC murine model colony management. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform standard techniques for transgenic and knockout murine colony management, superovulation, and generation of pseudo-pregnant murines. 


This person will reconstitute embryos, perform in vitro fertilization, and rederivate murine strains using frozen and non-frozen germplasm. In addition, the Senior Researcher will perform survival microsurgery with murine and maintain a record-keeping system and database for cryopreservation and rederivation activities.


The ARC Cryopreservation Laboratory unit provides real-time technical advanced in vivo services to push research from concept to publication in record time by removing training and skill barriers for our researchers at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs laboratory experiments independently using established techniques/protocols.

  • Performs murine embryo and sperm techniques in support of ARC murine model colony management.

  • Performs standard techniques for transgenic and knockout model colony management, superovulation, and generation of pseudo-pregnant murine.

  •  Performs the reconstitution of embryos, in vitro fertilization, and rederivation of murine model strains using frozen and non-frozen germplasm. 

  • Performs survival microsurgery with murine.

  • Maintain a record-keeping system and database for cryopreservation and rederivation activities.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the goals of the department and institution.

  • Handles liquid nitrogen.

  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.


Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required.


Minimum Experience:

  • Two (2) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required.

  • No experience is required with a Master's degree.


Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 - $105,040 per year for the role of Senior Researcher- ARC Cryopreservation Laboratory.
