Memphis, TNThe World’s Most Dedicated Never Give Up
There’s a reason St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is recognized as a great place to work. Because at our world-class pediatric research hospital, every one of our professionals shares our commitment to make a difference in the lives of the children we serve. There’s a unique bond when you’re part of a team that gives their all to advance the treatments and cures of pediatric catastrophic diseases. The result is a collaborative, positive environment where everyone, regardless of their role, receives the resources, support and encouragement to advance and grow their careers and be the force behind the cures.
Dr. Jinghui Zhang, Member, in the Department of Computational Biology, is searching for a highly motivated candidate inspired to pursue cutting-edge research involving long-read sequencing technology. Under the supervision of Dr. Zhang, a world leader of methods development and cancer genomics, the candidate will be developing and applying new analytical approaches to study complex genomic architecture, genetic predisposition and treatment resistance using long-read sequencing data. The candidate will have the opportunity to get training in broad-scope research skills and interact with multi-disciplinary collaborators to explore the use of long-read technology from the perspective of haplotype phasing, complex re-arrangements and transcription regulation.
The successful candidate shall have excellent training and experience in bioinformatics analysis. Additional training and experience in genetic variation, epigenetics and cancer genomics are highly desired. The candidate is expected to be a critical thinker, a quick learner for new analytical approaches, and capable of implementing novel computational methods for solving complex problems. Candidate must have a doctoral degree (PhD or MD), an excellent publication record, and great communication skills.
Recognized as a world leader of genomic research and an elected Fellow of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB), Dr. Zhang has led high-impact research in the development and application of innovative computational methods, discovering novel targets and accelerating research and genomic data sharing to advance the diagnosis, treatment and surveillance of pediatric cancers and survivors. The Zhang lab has a great track record in mentoring and training as 11 former postdoctoral fellows or staff members now hold independent faculty positions and 3 are in leadership positions in industry.
St. Jude provides a highly interactive and supportive environment for researchers’ career development.

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $104,000 - $186,160 per year for the role of Senior Computational Research Scientist.Explore our exceptional benefits!
