We are looking for a well-organized and self-driven Researcher with a strong foundation in cell and molecular biology and biochemical techniques to join Dr. J. Paul Taylor's Lab at the Department of Cell & Molecular Biology (CMB). In this role, the ideal candidate will assist with various lab projects by conducting cell culture, protein purification, confocal imaging, and other molecular and biochemical experiments.
The mission of Dr. J. Paul Taylor’s laboratory is to explore the assembly and function of biomolecular condensates and how disturbance of this process and mutations in RNA-binding proteins often located in these condensates contribute to neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disease.
Preferred Skills:
Practical experience in cell culture and/or protein purification.
Familiarity with fundamental molecular biology and biochemical techniques.
A willingness to acquire new skills as necessary.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Responsibilities:
Assist with laboratory research on multiple projects.
Perform experiments as directed, report and communicate data supporting both publications and presentations.
Learn new techniques and experimental procedures to support scientific inquiry within the laboratory.
Follows basic protocols, implementing experimental techniques prescribed by the supervisor and providing basic troubleshooting where appropriate.
Accurately records experimental procedures and data.
May draft results/data for posters, presentations, or publications.
Operates lab equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific area is required.
Minimum Experience:
No experience required.
Experience performing experiments and reporting results in a relevant laboratory setting ispreferred.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $24.00 - $42.00 per hour for the role of Researcher- J. Paul Taylor's Lab.Explore our exceptional benefits!
