The Rehabilitation Services department at St. Jude is dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to patients and their families. We are seeking a driven and compassionate Physical Therapist to join our team. In this role, you will provide care for diverse groups of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults in the inpatient and outpatient settings. As part of the Rehabilitation Services department, the Physical Therapist (PT) studies, identifies, measures, and treats functional, neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, and developmental disorders, and other deficits/disabilities that result from diagnosis or treatment. The PT provides preventative, habilitative, rehabilitative, adaptive, and palliative care to both inpatients and outpatients and oversees provision of lower extremity prosthetic/orthotic devices and mobility aids. The PT participates in clinical programming, education, and research initiatives as directed and performs other related duties as assigned or identified to meet the goals, objectives, and mission of the Rehabilitation Services department and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Job Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the age-related needs of patients served. Assesses and interprets age-specific data regarding patient status to identify patient needs. Serves infants through young adult/adult patients. Directs patients in therapeutic exercise and activity, neuromuscular reeducation, gait training, functional mobility, and other medically appropriate therapeutic interventions with general supervision. Conducts evaluations using age- and ability-appropriate assessments, accurately scores and interprets evaluation results, and creates the plan of care with general supervision. Counsels patient/family regarding rehabilitation diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care. Assesses need for, recommends, and oversees the process of measuring and fitting lower extremity orthotic and prosthetic devices and assistive devices. Maintains patient safety and provides appropriate level of patient supervision. Arranges referrals for additional services, consulting the attending physician as appropriate.
Clinical Documentation and Billing: Completes documentation and billing requirements in accordance with the Rehabilitation Services department policy.
Teamwork and Collaboration: Collaborates with all stakeholders to facilitate delivery of services. Accepts feedback from various sources and uses input to improve performance.
Communication: Always communicates in a professional manner to patients, families, staff, and visitors. Maintains confidentiality.
Efficiency and Effectiveness: Demonstrates efficient and effective utilization of time and resources. Participates in performance improvement activities for the clinical service. Assures patient access to all needed appointments.
Professionalism: Is respectful of patients, families, staff, and visitors. Abides by ethical and professional standards.
Education and Training: Completes annual education requirements. Evaluates own learning needs and develops a plan for meeting these needs in collaboration with senior therapists. Oversees clinical observers, students, interns, and volunteers as directed. Incorporates identified cultural needs and learning preferences into the plan of care. Includes patient and family in therapeutic education and assesses effectiveness of learning. Participates in educational in-services within and between departments.
Evidence-Based Practice, Research, and Program Development: Utilizes the principles of evidence-based practice to make informed decisions about evaluation tools and intervention techniques with guidance from senior therapists. Contributes ideas and participates in planning, development, and implementation of programming, education, and research initiatives as directed.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
Master’s degree from an accredited program in Physical Therapy required. Doctorate in Physical Therapy preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Two years of experience with a team approach preferred.
At least one year of pediatric experience preferred. Those with less than one year of experience must demonstrate exceptional clinical and professional skills.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:
Licensure by State of Tennessee Board of Examiners, Division of Health Related Boards required.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
Member of the American Physical Therapy Association required.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $70,720 - $126,880 per year for the role of Physical Therapist I or II.Explore our exceptional benefits!
