The Lead-Grants & Contracts Administrator is responsible for assisting in the support of grants, contracts, subcontracts from initial application through termination. Work with faculty/PIs and Administrative Staff to ensure that grant applications are submitted appropriately. Verify that documentation of expenditures are consistent with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (SJCRH) policies and grant limitations. Manage financial processes for the grants and any associated subcontracts of the grants. Works collaboratively with both internal and external customers of the grants to develop and systematically coordinate financial operations and contracts. Responsible for the development of departmental policies and procedures and staff training related to the processing of all grant records while assisting with general and administrative policies, procedures and training. This position has access to and regularly works with information of sensitive and confidential nature. Coordinate administrative activities and/or special projects as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives as they relate to the department.

The Comprehensive Cancer Center at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (SJCCC) is recruiting a Lead – CCSG Grants and Financial Administrator who will provide comprehensive grant management, financial oversight, and administrative support for the Center’s portfolio of grants and strategic activities, including the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-funded Cancer Center Support Grant.
As the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children, the SJCCC brings together world-class physicians and scientists to work on problems that have the potential to have the greatest impact for children fighting cancer.  Our long-standing NCI designation reflects our commitment to excellence in laboratory, clinical, and survivorship research, as well as leadership in training the next generation of cancer researchers and community outreach.
Working in the Office of the Cancer Center Director and Executive Vice President, we believe this is an exciting role for someone who wants to use their grant management and financial expertise to support the SJCCC, an innovative Comprehensive Cancer Center ranked “Exceptional” at the most recent NCI review. In this position, you will have the opportunity to play a vital role in the administration and financial oversight of the Cancer Center Support Grant; be a part of a cohesive and talented Cancer Center Administration team; engage world-renowned scientists, clinicians, and thought leaders; build relationships with department leads and stakeholders throughout the institution; participate in administrative retreats and other strategic planning and idea-generating activities; contribute new ideas in an open and engaging environment and continue developing skills for your career goals.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day administrative operations for the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG).
  • Provide financial oversight, analysis, and budget planning for the CCSG and Center activities.
  • Manage the pilot project review and award process.
  • Coordinate the CCSG noncompetitive renewal process.
  • Play a key role in the planning and submission of the CCSG application.
  • Develop external funding reports for leadership per NCI guidelines and other reports required for decision-making.
  • Support application development and submission for supplements to the CCSG
  • Manage the cancer center membership process, including coordinating the application process, maintaining the member database, and coordinating the annual membership review.
  • Coordinate the limited submission process for funding opportunities in cancer research.
  • Participate in NCI-sponsored webinars and attend national meetings relevant to the CCSG and grant administration.
  • Develop policies and procedures as appropriate to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
  • Serve as a key contact for grant and financial aspects.
  • Support other activities critical for the CCSG or other strategic goals of the SJCCC.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience managing multiple processes within financial administration as applicable to grants and contracts.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven performance in earlier roles.
  • Experience with Federal (NIH) grants is highly desired.
  • Experience in administration of Cancer Center Support Grant or other complex, multi-component grant preferred.
  • Experience in budget development and management is preferred.
  • Experience within an academic/medical environment preferred.
  • Experience with applications for grant tracking and submission preferred. 
  • Experience developing timelines and project management a plus.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and/or scientific concepts a plus.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $78,000 - $139,360 per year for the role of Lead - Grants & Financial Administrator (Cancer Center Support Grant).
