The Sr Decision Support Engineer is responsible for framing complex problems, designing strategic decisions, facilitating groups, and managing projects that support effective business decisions as it relates to strategic planning at St. Jude.
This position is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes and tools supporting applications. Responsible for ensuring the solution meets the functional requirements and follows development standards and specifications. Stays current with the latest trends in data warehousing ETL technology and methodologies.
This position is open to remote consideration.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Summarize, present, and provide feedback on key findings in spreadsheet and/or slide presentation form to key stakeholders (internal and external); document sources, definitions, methodologies, and underlying assumptions.
  • Obtain data, execute reporting and analysis, perform interpretations and conclusions, and prepare recommendations; adapt data and data structure to support strategic decision-making.
  • Design and develop data load processes of structured and unstructured data, optimizing information reuse and utilizing industry best practices; lead development of databases and/or ETL processes for on-prem and cloud-based systems.
  • Assist in implementation and monitoring of data governance strategy in line with organizational expectations, regulatory requirements, and standards; understand key customers and internal needs to assist in data-driven solutions.
  • Leverage networks for data gathering, problem solving and best practice identification.
  • Lead small projects/processes or aspects of a larger project end-to-end within area (e.g., dashboard design, deployment, advanced data visualization, automated reporting applications, coding, testing, debugging).

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g., computer science, data science, information science, business, health information/administration).
  • Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum requirement: 4+ years in the design of databases and ETL processes preferably in comparable industry.
  • Exception: Master's degree with 2+ years in the design of databases and ETL processes preferably in comparable industry.
  • Experience in designing and maintaining data management systems, data warehouses, and data source analysis.
  • Experience in programming querying languages; experience with source control systems (e.g., Epic, Workday) preferred.
  • Experience with development of reports using enterprise reporting tools and creating dashboards using data visualization tools (e.g., PBI, Tableau, Qlik, and data warehousing applications) as applicable.
  • Some experience in business stakeholder engagement and management; presenting projects and leading meetings related to projects as necessary.
  • Healthcare experience a plus

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $86,320 - $154,960 per year for the role of Senior Decision Support Engineer.
