Position Overview
The Infrastructure Architect (Level I or Principal) of Transport & Site-Reliability (Network) is a self-motivated and ambitious individual responsible for the design and direction of the network/infrastructure strategy, architecture, and standards. They will also provide tier 3 support and guidance on the building and operating of IT network/ infrastructure based on best-practice processes, disciplines, and related toolsets. Responsible for promoting the advancement of strategic efforts such as DevOps, observability, and cloud enablement within the overall technology services portfolio. Ensures all infrastructure projects are executed within predefined timelines and budgets in compliance with relevant regulatory or statutory compliance. This position acts as an informal team leader on an as needed basis and effectively collaborates with both internal IT and business-focused customers.
This position may be eligible for the possibility of remote work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and evolution of all network services including but not limited to: enterprise networking infrastructure (Cisco), network segmentation (Cisco ISE), data center networking (Cisco), load balancing (f5), DNS, and IPAM. 

  • Plan and create network blueprints, considering factors like redundancy, load balancing, and fault tolerance while working with Build and Operate engineers for lifecycle management 

  • Work closely with Automation team to ensure seamless integration of network services into new and existing pipelines. Particular focus should be given to automating network provisioning and configuration management. 

  • Collaborate with application hosting teams to advance cloud enablement by architecting and optimizing network solutions for cloud platforms (Azure, AWS). 

  • Design and implement security policies and access controls using Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) that deploy secure network segments, enforce segmentation, and monitor traffic for anomalies. 

  • Stay updated on security threats, vulnerabilities, and compliance requirements. 

  • Create designs and provide support for enterprise switching and routing in an environment using OSPF and BGP across multiple VRFs. Must optimize network paths, reduce latency, and ensure efficient use of bandwidth. 

  • Participate in the design and implementation of enterprise observability platforms to track performance and troubleshoot issues. 

  • Establish relationships with technology partners and find opportunities for external collaboration. 

  • Understand team-based budgeting requirements and provide input to the budget planning process. 

  • Lead assessment of external and internal technology, solutions, and capabilities, and provide recommendations to business leaders. 

  • Define and maintain capacity management processes within own area of infrastructure/network operations. 

  • Train and mentor teams on emerging infrastructure/network related aspects. 

  • Stay up to date on network industry trends and best-practices. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution. 

  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance. 


Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, business or related field of study required.

  • Master's degree preferred.


Minimum Experience:

Infrastructure Architect I

  • Minimum requirement: 5+ progressive years of IT industry experience in systems operations environment, overseeing complex environment, deployment, and infrastructure management activities.

  • Experience with DevOps methodologies in an automation-focused environment. 

  • Experience in capacity planning for new products or geographic expansions. 

  • Strong proven experience in creating and maintaining documentation like HLDs, LLDs, and various other narratives. 

  • Proven knowledge surrounding network security best practices. 

  • Strong proven experience in business stakeholder engagement and management. 

  • Some experience working relevant regulatory or statutory compliance requirements. 

  • Experience in relevant infrastructure operations (e.g. data center operations, HPC systems, enterprise networks, security, IasS, PasS, cloud computing). 

  • Experience providing technical guidance and mentorship within Technology Infrastructure. 

  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role. 


Principal Infrastructure Architect

  • Minimum requirement: 8+ progressive years of experience in IT industry having experience leading IT infrastructure transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environments.

  • Experience with DevOps methodologies in an automation-focused environment. 

  • Experience in capacity planning for new products or geographic expansions. 

  • Strong proven experience in creating and maintaining documentation like HLDs, LLDs, and various other narratives. 

  • Proven knowledge surrounding network security best practices. 

  • Strong proven experience in business stakeholder engagement and management. 

  • Some experience working relevant regulatory or statutory compliance requirements. 

  • Experience in relevant infrastructure operations (e.g. data center operations, HPC systems, enterprise networks, security, IasS, PasS, cloud computing). 

  • Experience providing technical guidance and mentorship within Technology Infrastructure. 

  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role. 


Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

  • Cisco Professional Level Certification highly preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $104,000 - $186,160 per year for the role of Infrastructure Architect (Level I or Principal).
