Because at our world-class pediatric research hospital, every one of our professionals shares our commitment to make a difference in the lives of the children we serve. There’s a unique bond when you’re part of a team that gives their all to advance the treatments and cures of pediatric catastrophic diseases. The result is a collaborative, positive environment where everyone, regardless of their role, receives the resources, support and encouragement to advance and grow their careers and be the force behind the cures.
The Department of Psychology andBiobehavioral Sciences at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is recruiting for research psychologists and scientists interested in building a clinical-research program with application to diverse groups of childhood catastrophic illness. The position can be filled at the Assistant, Associate or Full faculty level and can be within the Clinician-Scientist track (up to 80% protected research time) or the Research track (95% protected research time) based on candidate preference, experience, and goals.
St. Jude is a tertiary care hospital focused on treatment of catastrophic illnesses of childhood including cancer, sickle cell disease and other hematologic disorders, HIV and other infectious diseases, endocrinology, and neurological disorders. Our mission is to advance cures and means of prevention through research discovery and knowledge generation with potential to impact treatment advances.
The Department includes 25 faculty across clinical, clinician-scientist, and research tracks and houses robust clinical and research training programs at the post-doctoral fellowship (NIH T32 funded), pre-doctoral internship, and graduate student levels. The Department also maintains comprehensive clinical-research and data science resources. The Psychology Clinic is staffed by pediatric psychologists, neuropsychologists, and masters-level examiners. Psychology is a highly valued discipline within interdisciplinary clinical and research teams and is well-integrated into institutional medical care and research programs.
Shared institutional resources are readily available to our faculty – biorepository and clinical biomarkers lab, biostatistics, applied bioinformatics, proteomics and metabolomics, and a variety of brain and body imaging resources (MRI, fMRI, DTI, MRS, fNIRS, PET), among other resources.
Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Psychology, Behavioral Science, Neuroscience, or a related field. Candidates interested in clinical work are required to have completed an APA-approved program, an APA- or CPA-approved doctoral internship, a post-doctoral fellowship in applied psychology, and be eligible for licensure as a psychologist with Health Service Provider designation in the State of Tennessee.
