SR PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMINER OR PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMINER

The Psychology Clinic at St. Jude is seeking to hire a clinician who enjoys and is skilled at conducting psychological assessments. Candidates must be either a Certified Psychological Assistant in the state of Tennessee, eligible for such certification by the Tennessee Board of Examiners in Psychology or licensed as a Psychological Examiner or a Senior Psychological Examiner in the state of Tennessee.
The ideal candidate will have experience both conducting and scoring standardized, norm-referenced, individually administered, performance-based assessments (e.g., Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, 5th ed; Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement, 3rd ed; Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System; etc.). Additionally, the ideal candidate has strong communication skills, is detail oriented, enjoys working in a collaborative environment, and has previous experience conducting psychological assessments with youth with complex medical histories.
School psychologists, individuals licensed as a Senior Psychological Examiner or a Psychological Examiner by the Tennessee Board of Examiners in Psychology, and Certified Psychological Assistants with relevant experience, or those eligible for such certification by the Tennessee Board of Examiners in Psychology, are encouraged to apply.
As one of our clinicians, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to both the clinical care of individual patients and to ongoing research focused on the developmental, psychological, and neurocognitive functioning of patients treated at St. Jude. The impact of your work will be both immediate and individualized as well as future-oriented and far-reaching. 
Under the supervision of attending psychologists, conducts psychological assessment and related services with patients in the Psychology Clinic. Psychological assessment is completed in the context of research protocols as well as to address clinical needs. Responsibilities also include consulting with attending psychologists to interpret assessment findings, providing written feedback of performance to patients and families, and collaborating with clinic and research personnel. Provides scientific and administrative support to the Director, Assistant Director, and other attending psychologists.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs psychological assessment of patients including: Diagnostic interviewing. Reviewing medical and psychological records. Administering standardized testing of cognition, achievement, emotional status and neuropsychological function. Scoring psychological tests. Interpreting psychological tests. Providing feedback to referring physicians. Providing feedback to patient and/or parents. Assessing for service and research projects.
  • Provides scientific and administrative assistance to the Director, Assistant Director, and other attending psychologists. Works closely with Department of Psychology research staff (e.g., investigators, CRAs, etc.) for quality assurance of scientific protocols. Participates in interdepartmental and institutional committees as delegated by the Assistant Director. Orients new psychological examiners to the Psychology Clinic.
  • Maintains professional competency by attending workshops and seminars, learning new methods of assessment, attending interdisciplinary conferences, attending departmental rounds and staff meetings, maintaining current Tennessee licensure as a Senior Psychological Examiner and completing regular competency assessments.
  • Maintains positive employee, hospital staff, patient, patient family and guest relationships.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Director or Director to meet the objectives of the Department of Psychology, Psychology Clinic, and the hospital.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Master's degree in Psychology or Education from a regionally accredited institution

Minimum Experience:

  • Sr. Psychological Examiner
  • Experience with psychological assessment measures commonly used in children, adolescents, and young adults is required
  • Five (5) years of experience in an applied setting following attainment of Master's degree.

  • Psychological Examiner
  • Experience with Psychological assessment measures commonly used in children, adolescents, and young adults is required. Training or experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
  • One year of experience in an applied setting following attainment of Master's degree

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:

  • (LC:SRPSYEX-TN) Licensed as a Senior Psychological Examiner by the Tennessee Board of Examiners in Psychology

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $70,720 - $126,880 per year for the role of Sr Psychological Examiner OR Psychological Examiner.
