FACULTY POSITION, DEPARTMENT OF STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY - CENTER OF EXCELLENCE IN DATA DRIVEN DISCOVERY
Memphis, TNThe Center of Excellence for Data-Driven Discovery in the Department of Structural Biology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital focuses on research that goes beyond static structures and into the realm of computational structural biology. We use data-driven approaches to study and predict protein and protein complex structures, screen small compound libraries virtually for drug candidates, explore the world of protein engineering, and elucidate functional mechanisms for systems and cellular pathways. As a department, we investigate the mechanisms by which dynamics manifest into function and perturbations result in disease, using a variety of experimental and computational approaches. Our research is supported by state-of-the-art Technology Core Centers within the department, dedicated to protein technologies, X-ray crystallography, NMR, cryo-EM/ET, single-molecule imaging, and computational structural biology.
Our Center of Excellence is seeking a new faculty member who wants to pursue bold and creative scientific projects in an open and collaborative environment. Applicants should have a strong focus in developing and applying cross-linking mass spectrometry and proteomics approaches for protein complex determination, as well as familiarity with both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems. Successful candidates will have a track record of elucidating the components and structures of protein complexes using the above techniques.
St. Jude offers unparalleled startup packages, equipment, laboratory space, personnel support, and continuing institutional support beyond the start-up phase, as part of our commitment to promote excellent research. The St. Jude research community fosters a highly interactive environment, with plenty of collaborative opportunities across our basic research and clinical departments. Our computational research is supported by the Office of Data Science and Research Information Services and our resources include a High-Performance Computing Facility, featuring 328 general nodes with 476 TB of RAM, and 448 GPU nodes with 31 TB of memory. We also have an AI/ML cluster, and an AI cluster, with over ~110 PB of storage for HPC computations.
Applicants should hold a PhD and/or MD degree, have at least three years of relevant postgraduate experience, and a demonstrated track record of productivity.
If you need assistance/and or a reasonable accommodation during the application or recruiting process due to a disability or otherwise, please include a request in your cover letter.
How to apply:
Interested applicants should submit the following via the online application
- cover letter including names and contact information for three references;
- curriculum vitae;
- concise summary of previous research contributions, highlighting your most important articles (up to 3) and your role in them (1 page);
