St. Jude's Research Service Unit is seeking a Research Services Technologist to provide timely clinical care and management to a diverse population of lab model species. If you are passionate about making a difference, this could be the right opportunity for you to join our transformative team!
The Research Services Unit of the ARCprovides multiple technical skills for the advancement of research with a focus on efficiency, dependability, integrity, and quality so the research community can further their scientific efforts and, as a result, strive to improve the quality of human life. The Technologist is expected to execute in vivo projects from beginning to end as research needs dictate. Required to work in all areas of the facility and with all species, especially severely immunocompromised study models.

Job Responsibilities:
Execute routine tasks/processes within area (e.g., veterinary services: assessment of lab models health cases, emergency health condition triaging; Research services: breeding colony maintenance, sample collection and processing,), with limited guidance.
Perform assigned procedures within area (e.g., necropsy, euthanasia; pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) projects & surgical procedures) as applicable.
Troubleshoot, report, and record any issues with equipment/processes within the area.
Monitor own delivery for compliance with overall guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
Inform relevant stakeholders (e.g., researchers, veterinary of findings and unusual observations/occurrences in a timely manner.
Maintain relevant documentation (e.g., medical records, process logs, files, billing reports) as applicable for own area.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
High School Diploma/GED required.
Associate's/Bachelor's degree in lab science, biology, toxicology, or agriculture is preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum requirement: 4+ years of experience in a professional lab models care facility (e.g., models handling and restraint; health monitoring; operation and sanitization/sterilization of equipment; sample collection) with a High School Diploma/GED.
OR 2+ years experience with an Associate's degree OR no prior industry experience with a Bachelor's degree.
Prior experience within area preferred (e.g., lab models handling and restraint; health monitoring; operation and sanitization/sterilization of equipment; sample collection) preferred.
Some experience working with software tools to maintain documentation/records preferred.
Certification Required:
Assistant Laboratory Technician (ALAT) - American Association for Laboratory Science required within 18 months.

Is able to cope with unexpected changes in routine and deliver planned outcomes on time.
Escalates issues/problems and seeks support in a timely manner.
Applies basic knowledge of processes within own area to support delivery of routine tasks (e.g., Res. Services: lab models procurement and transfer, sample.
Collection, dosing prep; Veterinary Services: health case assessment, health condition monitoring, documentation) with guidance.
Is aware of standard operating procedures for own area of support.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
