Position Summary:
The Floor Finisher is responsible for cleaning and maintaining a variety of soft and hard surface floors using electric and battery-powered equipment. The role ensures high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in all areas and complies with protective protocols when working with potentially infectious materials and hazardous substances.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (with rotating weekends and holidays)
Key Responsibilities:
Transport custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
Strip, clean, and refinish hard surface floors using appropriate chemicals and/or mechanical equipment.
Extract or shampoo carpeted floors using approved cleaning methods and equipment.
Perform detailed cleaning of baseboards, kick plates, corners, edges, and elevator tracks.
Conduct salvage, corrective, and preventive maintenance on a variety of floor coverings, including vinyl, marble, terrazzo, wood, granite, ceramic tile, conductive flooring, and cork.
Clean and remove trash from trash and compactor areas.
Perform routine maintenance on floor care equipment (e.g., electric and battery-powered floor machines, blowers, wet/dry vacuums, shampooing machines)—report malfunctions as necessary.
Move furniture and equipment as directed.
Complete special projects and daily assignments promptly; communicate progress and incomplete tasks to the supervisor.
Participate in all required training and continuous education, including departmental Floor Care Maintenance Certification.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and institutional goals.
Minimum Education and Training:
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum Experience:
One (1) to two (2) years of floor finishing experience preferred.
Experience using housekeeping-related equipment is preferred.
Previous Environmental Services experience in a hospital or hotel setting is highly desirable.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Regularly required to walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands and arms.
Frequently required to talk and hear.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds regularly.
Visual requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Must move throughout the workspace to access shelves, drawers, equipment, and other surfaces at various heights.

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $19.50 - $28.50 per hour for the role of Floor Finisher-Housing.Explore our exceptional benefits!
