The Clinical Applications Analyst II is responsible for optimizing workflow processes through building applications that are tailored to meet the health system’s needs. Serves as a subject matter expert in their assigned applications, and provide leadership on small and medium size projects with minimal oversight.
The Sr Clinical Applications Analyst is responsible for day-to-day coordination and development of assigned clinical/patient care applications. Participates and/or leads in the design, development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of new and legacy systems. Increasing responsibility for the design, development and management of the educational programs for the user departments.

Position Overview

Pathology Informatics supports St. Jude’s mission by delivering reliable, safe, and innovative laboratory information systems that clinicians, scientists, and our patients can count on. The Clinical Applications Analyst II or Sr. Clinical Applications Analyst in Pathology Informatics is responsible for implementing, managing, and optimizing Pathology’s information systems assuring seamless integration with the electronic health record (EHR). The analyst partners with laboratory leadership, IS, and vendor teams to turn clinical workflows into resilient, CAP-aligned solutions. The role focuses on system/workflow integration, interface design and maintenance, upgrades, and validation/change control in adherence with best practices and standards.

Position will work primarily on-site and rotate on-call after hours, weekends, and holidays. 

Experience with Data Innovations Instrument Manager and EPIC Beaker is highly preferred.


Clinical Applications Analyst II Job Responsibilities: 

  • Assists in the design, configuration, validation, and maintenance of instrument and application interfaces for Pathology workflows in alignment with CAP and institutional standards. 
  • Provide day-to-day support for pathology systems, ensuring their reliability and optimal performance. 
  • Maintain access controls, permissions, and audit artifacts per institutional policy. 
  • Supports system upgrades and enhancements by testing and validating changes in collaboration with technical teams and laboratory end users. 
  • Actively participates in meetings with cross-functional teams to elicit and understand business requirements. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper integration of new and existing laboratory instruments, applications, etc. 
  • Adhere to change management processes—maintaining thorough documentation of validation testing, approvals, and implementation follow-up in accordance. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrument and application data interfaces and data transfer. 
  • Monitor data integrity and validate the accuracy of data transferred between instruments/applications and LIS in accordance with current best practices. 
  • Conduct analyses to report emerging business/system/process needs; escalate complex problems when required. 
  • Track and drive resolution of needs and requests of teams within area, in coordination with laboratory teams and partner IT teams.
  • Support activities related to education of departmental teams around strategy, services, and capabilities, as well as change management, project management, and communication. 
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders and vendors, serving as the frontline point of contact for customers. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution. 
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance. 

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business or related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum requirement: Two (2) years of experience in a client-facing IT role.
  • Experience working with structured Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies
  • Experience leading discussions, identifying and documenting business IT problem statements, business process design and report requirements.

Salary range: $70,720.00/yr.-$126,880.00/yr.


Sr. Clinical Applications Analyst Job Responsibilities: 

  • Design, configure, validate, and maintain instrument and application interfaces for Pathology workflows in alignment with CAP and institutional standards. 
  • Lead system upgrades and enhancements (test plans, IQ/OQ/PQ or equivalent, regression testing, cutover, and post-go-live monitoring). 
  • Provide day-to-day support for pathology systems, ensuring their reliability and optimal performance. 
  • Maintain access controls, permissions, and audit artifacts per institutional policy. 
  • Actively participate and lead in meetings with cross-functional teams to elicit and understand business requirements. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper integration of new and existing laboratory instruments, applications, etc. 
  • Adhere to change management processes—maintaining thorough documentation of validation testing, approvals, and implementation follow-up in accordance. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrument and application data interfaces and data transfer. 
  • Monitor data integrity and validate the accuracy of data transferred between instruments/applications and LIS in accordance with current best practices. 
  • Conduct analyses to report emerging business/system/process needs; escalate complex problems when required. 
  • Track and drive resolution of needs and requests of teams within area, in coordination with laboratory teams and partner IT teams 
  • Lead activities related to education of departmental teams around strategy, services, and capabilities, as well as change management, project management, and communication.

  • Act as a mentor to junior analysts. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution. 
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance. 

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business or related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum requirement: 4+ years of experience in a comparable client-facing IT role
  • Experience working with structured Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies
  • Exposure to diverse business ecosystems of moderate complexity in pharma, healthcare, biotech and/or research organization preferred
  • Demonstrated history leading discussions and documenting resulting business and/or technical requirements, user stories and process flows
  • Experience translating business requirements to technical/system requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work with mid to senior-level business leaders

Salary range: $86,320.00/yr.-$154,960.00/yr.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $86,320 - $154,960 per year for the role of Clinical Applications Analyst II or Sr. Clinical Applications Analyst - Pathology Informatics.
