St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is looking for an experienced  Senior Manager Design and Construction. The Senior Manager Design & Construction will direct all facility improvement projects of less than $5 million. The position will oversee all aspects of project delivery: design conception, scope of work development, the bidding process and vendor selection, construction, and project closeout. The role mentors and manages a project team, effectively communicates with internal and external customers to complete project assignments and provides timely reporting.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Promotes a culture of safety, quality, excellence and stewardship.
  • Directs and manages a team in the development of plans, goals, objectives, budgets, timelines, and risk assessment for completion of projects.
  • Reviews construction progress with team, modifies schedule or plan as required, and provides guidance as needed.
  • Provides recommendations on process improvements and innovative approaches to small project delivery.
  • Responsible for prioritizing projects, project assignments and resource leveling
  • Collaborate with Facility Operations and Maintenance, Information Services, Campus Security and other campus stakeholders regularly on project and departmental issues, balancing design, budget, and schedule considerations to ensure capital projects continue to support the campus’s values, aesthetics, and goal of safe, resilient, sustainable and highly maintainable facilities.
  • Makes recommendations for improving engineering details and construction feasibility,
  • Reviews project cost estimates and coordinates value engineering exercises with supported customers to maintain program, time frame, and budget.
  • Ensure that all impacts to building data as a result of a project are updated within our databases/files; work with FOM  and Planning to ensure site data, as well as building data (as-builts) is updated regularly and is accessible.
  • Trains and develops employees. Develops and executes staffing plans that reflect anticipated personnel losses and facility staffing requirements. Makes hiring recommendations to the VP.
  • Conducts annual employee performance appraisals for assigned personnel. Administers employee remedial training and development programs. Recommends disciplinary actions as required.
  • Ten (10) years project management experience in a hospital, research institution, education environment or related environment required.
  • One (1) experience in CAD/Revit or equivalent desirable.
