Director – Center for In Vivo Imaging and Therapeutics

During the past five decades, St. Jude has made remarkable progress toward curing childhood cancer and other life-threating diseases.  At St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, we know what can be achieved when the brightest scientific minds face the fewest barriers. That’s why we provide world-class facilities, state-of-the-art technologies, extraordinary support and a collaborative, bench-to-bedside environment where you can see, firsthand, how your science translates into survival for the children we serve.

St Jude Children’s Research Hospital is committed to investing in and implementing cutting-edge imaging technologies to support basic scientific and translational research.  An integral part of this infrastructure has been the establishment of our Center for In Vivo Imaging and Therapeutics (CIVIT) a dynamic imaging facility that is home to some of the latest technologies including high-resolution ultrasound, bioluminescence and intravital microscopy.  The recent completion of the Inspiration 4 Advanced Research Center provided the opportunity to take bold steps to dramatically enhance our capabilities in preclinical diagnostic imaging through significant investment in high-field MRI and PET including two 9.4T MRI units supported by cryo-coil technology and spectroscopy tools, a PET insert allowing for simultaneous PET and MRI acquisitions and a state-of-the-art PET-CT system.  The availability of cutting-edge ancillary equipment supporting all platforms and an energetic, talented and multi-disciplinary staff ensures that the facility expertly supports the research endeavors of the faculty at St. Jude.

The Director of CIVIT is deeply involved in a wide array of basic science and translational research projects, assisting world-renowned investigators in answering their scientific questions as well as pioneering new applications and technology development to keep the facility state-of-the-art.  The CIVIT comprises the Surgery & Imaging and Preclinical Diagnostic Imaging teams, each managed by an experienced section lead.  The successful applicant will employ and maintain effective communication with investigators and work closely with their team towards optimum planning, scheduling, training for, and implementation of imaging experiments.

This is a dynamic laboratory environment where you will work with researchers involved in innovative basic and translational research for the fulfillment of our mission: Finding Cures. Saving Children.
